Posted: October 5th, 2009Author: The Constant GolferCategory: Video Games

wgt

World Golf Tour is a browser based golf game. Oh yeah and its free. The game looks a lot like Links LS from the 90’s, which was a great game and it employs some nice yet simple physics for a golf game. The game boasts a great group of courses like Bethpage Black and Kiawah Island. If you register with the site they will track all your stats and let you play in online tournaments. So what is this game really best for? It won’t replace real golf, no game can, and it won’t replace Tiger Woods on the Wii or PS3. It does however fill a void of the avid golfer that allows us to play a quick game of golf during work or during lunch. So check out WGT.com for a fun easy to use golf game that will fill your golf fix on a rainy friday at work.

This is the kind of niche market clothing company that is crazy enough to just work. Tattoo Golf is a golf clothing company that makes clothes that feature imagery not usually associated with the game of golf. Their are skulls, lots of use of the color black, and grungy messed up text. According to the companies twitter account their clothes carried all over the clubhouses all over country. The success of Tattoo Golf is the kind of thing that can be attributed to the internet and growing interest in the game of golf. And anything that helps grow the game of golf we are all for.

Scotty Cameron Napa California 2009

Posted: September 25th, 2009Author: The Constant GolferCategory: Golf Putters

scottyNapaI have very little information on what this is from Scotty Cameron’s putter studio but I know one thing I want it. This putter looks beyond beautiful and the etching and typography on the sole of the club is perfect. This putter reminds me a lot of the Studio Design putter of the early to mid 2000’s. Plus it’s limited release which makes it even cooler if you can get your hands on one. Maybe Scotty Cameron would like us at The Constant Golfer to review this potential gem, wink wink.

Synthetic Putting Greens FTW!

Posted: September 23rd, 2009Author: The Constant GolferCategory: Golf Lifestyle

synthetic-putting

There are very few things that every golfer truly needs to get better. Having a new driver is nice but it won’t shave 10’s of strokes off your game. A synthetic putting green on the other hand is a golf product that I feel every serious golfer should consider. Now it’s true it won’t completely replace grass at the country club but having a realistic putting experience at your own house is the kind of thing that can improve anyone’s touch around the greens exponentially. Imagine being able to spend 15 minute intervals throughout the day to practice your putting whenever you feel like it, now your starting to get the idea. Plus It’s a great idea for entertaining at parties.

There are many options for synthetic putting greens out on the market so do your research.

Southwest Greens is one of the big players in the market with many pro endorsments, so it would be good to start your search here.

Bushnell Pro 1600 Rangefinder

Posted: September 21st, 2009Author: The Constant GolferCategory: Golf Technology

bushnell

Walking off yardages is for suckers. Seriously, no one ever does it exactly right. And i’m sure most of our strides are much shorter than a yard. This is where the Bushnell Pro 1600 Rangefinder comes in. This rangefinder from Bushnell is legal for tournament play and is one of the most accurate on the market. It has the ability to display multiple yardages as well as zeroing in on the flag as a singular location. This device does one thing and it does it increbilby well, and like I said,  its legal for tournament play. Doesn’t get much better than that.

The Bushnell Pro 1600 Tournament Edition Laser Rangefinder with Pinseeker can be bought on Amazon.

eBay pick of the week: Callaway Big Bertha 1996 Irons

Posted: September 18th, 2009Author: The Constant GolferCategory: Golf Irons

big_bertha96_large

Unofficial iron week continues this time with an oldie but a goodie. The Callaway Big Bertha irons from 1996. Anyone who remembers these clubs knows of their greatness. These irons looked more like hockey sticks than golf clubs. Workability with these irons was pretty much not possibly. The Big Bertha irons of 1996 were designed for two things forgiveness and hitting the ball very very high, and they succeeded on both fronts. I loved playing these irons for the sheer novelty of them. The long irons resemble today’s hybrid woods and the short irons well those were barely playable but its still great to have a set like this lying around for the kids or for someone just starting out and looking for a golf club that promotes confidence.

The Callaway Big Bertha 1996 Irons can be picked up on eBay.

TaylorMade 2009 Burner Iron Set

Posted: September 17th, 2009Author: The Constant GolferCategory: Golf Irons

2009 burner irons full

I am going to be honest the last time I played a Taylor Made golf club it was a TiBubble2 in 1998. I’ve always been a little turned off to their design aesthetic which tends to be more technologically driven than it is classic and visually appealing. However the Taylor Made Burner 2009 irons my sway me. For a cavity back set of irons these are hot. These irons offer a large face with plenty of forgiveness and thick topline to promote confidence. For those of you not interested in an offset head you can opt for the Tour Preferred Burners. Taylor Made also claims that in this set they have from the ground up custom designed each iron to maximize their performance. I’m not quite ready to dump my lead tape covered DCI 981’s but maybe trying these out for a bit would way me. You can get more information at http://www.taylormadegolf.com/.

You can buy the Taylor Made Burner 2009 Iron Set at Amazon.
